The BFA music program offers a variety of programs to showcase each student’s creativity and talent.  As part of BFA’s focus on the arts, each year every grade has the opportunity to participate in a musical performance in front of a live audience.

After School choir (grade 2 -8)

American Idol may not being coming to Denver soon but we can practice. This great after school program help students learn the basics of singing, public speaking and performing as they prepare the to sing some classic holiday music. Students will also take a caroling field trip to Wind Crest and sing for their community.Choir Photo

Rehearsals start starts September 24th and meets Tuesdays 3:30-4:15.

Performance will be December 11 at 6:00 p.m.

K-5 Music

Full day kindergarten through fifth grade has music five times a month. Students explore music through singing, dancing and playing.

Sometime during the year, each grade will perform in a musical. Students can find more information on their grade level performances and practice their music on the BFA music site.

Middle School Music/Performing Arts

Middle School Students have the opportunity to select from a number of different electives. Selections vary each trimester, but in the past we’ve offered choices such as:

  • Guitar
  • Choir (goes to Disneyland every three years)
  • Musical Theatre
  • Technical Theatre
  • Drama
  • Digital Music
  • Song Writing
  • Junkyard Drumming

After school performing arts vary from year-to-year, but include:

  • Choir
  • Caroling
  • Drama
  • Musical Theatre
  • Ukulele Club
  • Stage Makeup
  • Stage Combat

Harper Arts

Harper Arts has been a part of the BFA community for the last four school years, and this year Mrs. Harper is continuing to offer lessons for students. Students are approved to participate in this opportunity during DEAR, recess, specials, electives (middle school) and advisory (middle school). There also will still be a number of spaces available before and after school. Mrs. Harper will also be offering lessons at her Highlands Ranch studio. Space for this program is EXTREMELY LIMITED; fill out this Harper Arts form to get started! Priority shall be given on a first come, first served basis!

BAND AND ORCHESTRA

The Band and Orchestra program is open to BFA students in grades 4-8. Both band and orchestra will be offered through ThunderRidge Elementary Instrumental Music (TREIM). New and intermediate students are welcome. Band instruments include: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba, french horn and percussion. Orchestra instruments include: violin, viola, cello and double bass. For more information go to https://treim.org.
